| OVER 21, Then a Direct Access Course may be for you.
This will allow you to train and take your test on a large
capacity bike. On passing your test, you can ride any bike you
want without waiting the 2-year restriction period. Before
starting your course you should study for and pass the DSA's
Motorcycle Theory Test. (Bring the paperwork with you.)

Typically 2 & 1/2 days is enough for
someone who has had recent riding experience.
Or train
from novice (3 1/2 days 1st day is normally on a 125cc doing a
CBT). You will be advised on how many less or further days you
may need before taking the test (instructors strive for 100% pass rate,
so they want you to pass as much as you). A Direct Access course
usually takes the following form:

| But Realy Want To Ride Something Like This
| |
|
Day 1: Getting used to the bike - You'll start by
riding around the quiet back streets, to allow you to get used
to the bike. Once you have the basic control skills, you will
progress to a normal ride, getting you used to cornering and
braking. The focus of day 1 is to make sure you are
comfortable on the bike.
Day 2: This is where you start to
focus on the test. You'll typically spend the day riding the
test area and getting used to riding at test standard,
spending time focusing on the exercises you'll have to do for
the test. |

| Then Direct Access ( D.A.S ) Will be for You
| |
|
Day 3: 1/2 day Preparation and the test - Depending
on the time of your test brushing up on any of your weak spots
before the test.
On passing, you can move onto a bike of
your choosing, maybe start some touring of the UK. Or even
abroad. Maybe you will want to keep on improving your riding
skills learning the advanced rider system with the aid of the
police roadcraft system. |
