Compulsory Basic Training

 

C.B.T is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT. A CBT pass (a DL96 certificate) is required before you can ride your motorcycle, moped or scooter on public roads as a Learner.

The CBT course introduces you to basic riding skills you need in order to be safe on the roads. Don't be worried if you never been on a bike before. As CBT starts from scratch the instructors assume you have little or no motorcycling experience. The focus of the day is working through the DSA's CBT syllabus. Getting you used to controlling the bike safely, For this reason a large portion of the course is spent in the safety of an off-road facility (like a school playground or unused car-park) This enables you to learn and practice the techniques without having to worry about other traffic.

During the day you will cover the following:

  • Basic road safety everything from what to wear and what to expect

  • Introduction to your bike Brakes, clutch, gears (manual)

  • Manoeuvring & Parking

  • Walking with the bike, getting it on and off the stand

  • Slow control.& Road Practice. Practicing approaching junctions and the correct procedure for turning left and right

  • Compulsory Skills. Includes learning the emergency stops and 'U' turn techniques.

Only then - The Real Thing - Out on the road in radio contact with your instructor, putting it all together.
