There's a small boy in a service station on the AutoStrada in North Italy. His father seems to manage to explain why I speak funny and don't understand his questions. But in his eyes he sees the fly-spattered and grimy bike, stuff strapped to the seat, me looking chilled and happy, and he understands something deep.
When he grows up - that'll be one more of us, and one less of them.
NEW REGULATIONS
There were concerns about having to carry a flourescent safety vest in case of breakdown in Belgium and France. Its not true, the French authorities' own site says vests are required for cars, and you must wear it if you have broken down, but not required for bikes. (Probably, but they are French, so they might make it up as they go along :)
