Hello Everyone

I was playing with the settings on the Psion which meant you didn't get this last week when intended. It was written before the Hot Spot update.

So now I'm in Darwin. The moderness, wide straight roads (with roadsigns convincing me I'm an idiot), the loud pointless chatter of western tourists, drinkable tap water and so on are freaking me out. I'm already missing Indonesia where life seems to actually have some meaning! I'm sure I'll get used to it in a few days though. I visited the supermarket last night and later ate, wait for it, BEANS ON TOAST! Ahh such simple pleasures.
Supermarkets are a wonder aren't they, so much food to look at and prices to compare, cheap entertainment for sure!

If I can do 500km a day I should get to Sydney (for fundraising) about halfway through the Olympics. First got to fettle the bike though and everything's closed today its Sunday. Let's hope the Motorcycle Council of New South Wales can find somewhere for me to crash out - all accommodation was booked up 6 months ago and prices quadrupled.

It was a real laugh loading the uncrated bike into the Boeing 737, front end in first with the bike on its side. They were worried that some pointy bits may puncture the cargo hold lining but it looked OK to me. During the performance the police chief and cargo manager at Kupang airport were fighting over my Vespa Club Jakarta badge - I told them to wait until I had removed it from my shirt!

So along with thanks to Merpati I also thank Darwin Customs, Quarantine, and Ansett Cargo for waiving all charges and letting me have the bike the same day, yesterday.
