A book review by Mike Forrester

Any of us who ride bikes will be aware that outlaw motorcycle groups exist.  If you are in a club, you will know why you are MCC not MC.  But very few people really know what goes on and how they operate.

Jay Dobyns does.  He is an undercover ATF agent whose team infiltrated the Hells Angels in Arizona.

This book is a year in his life.  How he works, what he has to do every day to get next to the people he is investigating.  And how it messes up his head, his family, and damn near kills him.

Anybody with an interest in outlaw biker culture will learn a lot from this book.  It is written from a law enforcement officer's point of view, but he acknowledges that himself, and it doesn't detract from the honesty with which he lays it all before us in dirty, bloody detail.

Its not a pretty picture.  Its raw.  Its real.  Its Reservoir Dogs meets Serpico via Trainspotting.  Its nowhere near the romanticised bullshit you usually see on TV or the movies (did you see Wild Hogs, WTF!).

Forget the light-weights on Discovery.  Forget bandanas-in-the-sun documentaries about Sturgis.  Read this, and get properly informed about a side of biker life that very few people really know about.
